Since this is my official first post to my mommyhood blog, it would only be right if I started with my pregnancy. Now, yes I was..and still am... young but pregnancy is pregnancy, there is absolutely no way to get around it! Now granted I wasn't hugging the toilet bowl every morning, but towards the end I was wanting it to all be over, like every other mom out there! During pregnancy you go through three stages...The excited new stage, the honeymoon stage, and the "I cant wait til this is over" stage. This correspond with the different trimesters that women go through with pregnancy also. During your first trimester, everybody is excited, there is a new bundle of joy growing inside and you are trying to figure out how you are going to break the news to your spouse, your parents, and anybody else that you are going to come into contact with within the next few months that way they aren't asking themselves, "Either she loves her free doughnuts, or shes expecting" Which is what Cody told everybody that asked if I was pregnant! All the while focusing on trying to keep your breakfast down. I was no exception. However, with being young parents, me and Cody also had school, and finances that was on our mind.
Once the secret is out of the bag then comes the "honeymoon" stage, this is your second trimester, the part where you and your spouse get to decide what you are going to call your bundle of joy, whether the nursery will be in blue or pink, and you are starting to get that perfectly round tummy. This was by far my favorite stage for me as a pregnant lady. We got to decided that our daughter's name would be Kailee Rae, we then went to Babies R Us and went down every aisle scanning every possible thing a baby could need, or we thought they needed. We also picked out her bedding set, and started planning 3 baby showers! But no need to get comfortable with this stage, cause it ends just as quickly as it began, cause then your third trimester is here, and your doctor appts. are closer together, you start picking out the outfit that you are going to bring your bundle of joy home, you install the carseat, and pre-register at your local hospital! And then out of no where the day that you have been dreaming about is finally here and nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING goes the way you want it to go.
This day came for me on May 16th, 2014. Me and Cody were just going for a normal doctors visit I was 38 weeks at this point. When the doctor came in she said that they gave the option to sweep your membranes, which had a 50/50 chance of progressing labor. By this point I was only 70% effaced and 1 cm dilated. So, being in absolute pain at this point, and not have having a full nights rest since the first trimester I opted into doing it. However, it was only a 50/50 chance. Right? Wrong. As the doctor was sweeping my membranes, she "accidently" broke my labor and it was full force ahead from there on out.
We arrived at the hospital around 3 pm that afternoon. I hadn't ate since lunch time so they allowed me to eat and walk the floor until 5 pm which is when they started my Pitocin, because my body hadnt gone into active labor yet. By 7 pm I was 5 cm dilated and demanding epidural. Which in my opinion hurt worse than going through labor. After getting my epidural it became a waiting game at that point. Around 12 am my contractions were getting more intense and closer together and it was time to call in the doctor. Once she arrived, Kailee had already crowned and was not waiting for anybody. 5 mins later and 8 strong pushes my beautiful baby girl was laying on my chest and nothing else in the world matter. She was born at 12:39 am. She weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces ad was 19 inches long. She couldnt have been anymore perfect.
